Barnsley House Garden

Mature four and a half acre garden of interest to gardeners and designers as well as tourists. Set around the 17th century home of Rosemary Verey OBE, the garden is bounded on three sides by high 18th century wall. Borders creating vistas divide the garden into areas with features of interest. There is a gothic summer house and a classical temple, sculpture by Simon Verity and furniture by Charles Verey. Planting features include a knot garden laid out in 1975, a herb garden, the Laburnum Walk (best at end of May and early June), providing the best-known image from this garden with yellow laburnum falling onto purple alliums. There is also a well-known decorative potager. Plants are available following the interest in the garden around the seasons.
